Avshalom received his B.A., both in Archaeology and Mathematics, from the Ben-Gurion University, Beer-Sheva in 1999. He completed his Master’s thesis in the Hebrew University and as a guest student in the Weizmann Institute of Science, on developing computerized tools for ceramic analysis. His Ph.D. from the Hebrew University (2010) is on application of mathematical methods on artefact analysis, typology and classification.
He was an area supervisor in several rescue excavations and participated in some other excavations: Haluza, Tel el-Far’a (south) and Tel a-Safi.
Currently Avshalom is a head of the 3D Laboratory in the Israel Antiquities Authority.
